Why join RC Wingers?

When you join RC Wingers, you get to fly at a well-prepared facility that has been developed specifically for flying radio control models. Remember that in most cases, flying this type of model aircraft is illegal in parks and other uncontrolled areas. A purpose-built flying site such as the RC Wingers field is far safer for everyone.

We require AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) membership because that body sanctions our field and provides its members (and our field) insurance that makes this kind of operation attractive to land owners and local governments. Visit the AMA Sign Up Page to register or renew your AMA membership. When you have your current AMA card you can apply for RC Wingers membership. You must have, and maintain a current AMA membership to join and fly with the RC Wingers club. We cannot accept a "Park Flyers" membership.

Experienced new members need only demonstrate the ability to control your aircraft safely to our flight instructor and understand the boundaries of the field. For new pilots our club has instructors that will help you become proficient. You also have access to a wealth of information, help and support from our members. Many of our members have decades of flying experience that can make this a more enjoyable and safer hobby for you and your aircraft!

Membership Dues

Your RC Wingers dues go towards lawn mowing, Sani-Can maintenance, and several other monthly expenses. We also pay an annual rent to the land owner.

FAQs

New Members

We looked at that option, but we didn't want to make it more complicated by having multiple discount dates. If it is May or June when you are looking to become a member, you may have to ask yourself if you will get your $50 worth, or should you wait until after the beginning of June to pay the $100 for a new membership.

Renewing

We need some form of commitment from the members to pay at the beginning of the year and not be "hounded" by our treasurer to pay up. It is too much effort to keep track of those that are late and legally cannot fly at the site. By having a date of which payments are considered late, it gets the membership to renew in a timely fashion and gives the Directors a count for the coming year. All payment plans have a due date, this is no different.
Our system automatically starts sending reminders at the beginning of June. Every week until the end of June a reminder will be sent. We also publish the upcoming renewal date in the Meeting minutes of the June club meeting.
